MY THOUGHTS WHILE GOING THROUGH FIRST HALF OF THE BOOK

First of all, the book title. I did think that the book title was going to lead the whole plot to the shopping adventures of Becky and Minnie, but that wasn’t the main plot at all; turns out, planning a surprise birthday party for Luke is… what the….

I mean, the book title doesn’t really go with the story at all. Readers, if you’re trying to explain to me mini shopaholic is proven by having Minnie shouting on the top of her lungs “mineeeeeee minneeeeee!!!!”, no, I AM NOT BUYING IT.

To be honest, I really thought this would probably be the last shopaholic book i will read when I was going through the first half of the book. I mean, it’s really very hard to put up with a character whom you dislike or disagree with, especially her habit of lying.

Becky needs to stop lying, I mean, after five books, one marriage and one child, how can she still be so insensitive and materialistic after all the things she has gone through??? Plus, Becky needs to stop lying to herself by facing the truth that Minnie is just that spoilt brat like her mother.

But turns out, the book starts to get better after first half of the book.

AFTER FIRST HALF OF THE BOOK

Surprise surprise surprise! The second half of the book is full of funny and warm moments! My favourites are:

  • When Becky watched her daughter putting sprinkles on cupcakes;

  • Becky lied to brandon by saying she went to have botox and Brandon gave a lovely sweet speech (aww);

  • Her meetings with Elinor;

  • When Becky impersonate someone from the art industry to comment on her godson’s (Ernie’s) drawing at the art fair HILARIOUS;

  • When Becky was trying to stop Brandon from having his devices; and

  • Of course, last but not least, the surprise!

And I guess, part of the reason why the book's called Mini Shopaholic is Minnie actually ordered 16 Miu Miu coats online and shouting “mineeeeeee” when the goods arrived. Lol!!!

All in all, this book makes me so happy, especially the ending. I really think Sophie Kinsella outdone the series by having Mini Shopaholic!

Not like i’m having any hardships in my life currently but I still find this book is a wonderful escape from real life even though the book sometimes borders on the ridiculous.The things Becky said or thought about were very funny. That’s why it makes it so hard for me to hate this book.

Although there is nothing new here (as usual, Becky used every excuse to keep shopping in secrets and fighting to keep those secrets from coming out but of course, everything goes horribly wrong), I still find it not that bad.

It is definitely a smooth, fast and easy read. Great dialogue. ;)

Rating: 4.5/5
